ELENA HIGHT • WHEN SPEAKING OF GRIEF IN AN INTERVIEW, IT'S HARD TO KNOW HOW DEEP TO PUSH THE CONVERSATION. Even when I'm writing this intro, I worry that I'll overshadow who Elena Hight is by talking about what happened to her, about losing her partner, Mike Gardner, in the mountains. And I don't want Elena to be overshadowed, because as a snowboarder her career is important. From contest firsts to pushing limits in the backcountry, Elena Hight has been influential in a way that has truly made our sport better. But the things that have happened to her off the board are important too. Loss is, plainly speaking, terrible. It compounds those questions that so many of us, as snowboarders, ask ourselves time and again: What am I doing? What do I want to do? Why am I here?

THE BLAKE MOLLER INTERVIEW • BLAKE MOLLER PICKED ME UP IN SALT LAKE CITY TO DO THIS INTERVIEW. GRACIOUS. TIMELY. IT WAS THE DEAD OF SUMMER AND 109 DEGREES OUTSIDE, THE KIND OF HEAT THAT MAKES EVEN CROSSING A PARKING LOT FEEL LIKE A BAD DECISION. OUTSIDE THE LINES Artist Profile • KEYAN ADAMS IS AWESOME. NO POINT IN BURYING THE LEAD ON THIS ONE. And, as this interview unfolds, you'll hopefully see what I mean here. He's excited about snowboarding in a way that makes everyone else excited about it too. What separates him from so many other people though is he's created a platform to get people to do something about it. With his goggle company, Nerve, he's constantly creating situations for his friends to be themselves, whether that's through extremely convoluted (and I mean that in the best possible way) ads, or the 420 Sunshine Hip session that takes place yearly. Or even with Gap Year, the band he's in with other snowboarders Justin Phipps and Ethan Guertler, the community is constantly popping out for their shows, using it all as an excuse to hangout and listen to music. Boarders have even filled their video parts with his songs (Reid Smith in Rated R). I said at the top that Keyan Adams is awesome but...
